The 14th of February is an incredibly important day in any Calendar! That’s right, it’s the Day of Prayer for young people and Youth Ministry! Churches all across Ireland are encouraged to pray for their young people and those who serve them.
Now, more than ever, our young people are in need; they are literally watching their childhoods slip by. A recent study by DCU found that young people are experiencing significantly more symptoms of loneliness and other mental health problems than over 50s during lockdown.
So what can you do? Please Pray! God hears all prayers, and we can ask him to help all of us through Covid-19 and back to normal life some time in the future. But on the 14th of February please pray for all of the young people in particular, you might be one! Please pray that they would know God’s very present help in these times of trouble (Psalm 46:1).
A book published by CIYD for this day in 2019 is available with lots of ideas of how to pray – just email firstname.lastname@example.org to get a copy; the book is also available in a PDF format.
The story of Daniel
How are we supposed to respond to chaos, danger and fear? Do bad events like Covid-19 suggest that God has failed? Can we trust God? Does the Bible even answer any of these questions?
The story of Daniel was a real event of History, and it took place 2600 years ago, but it is relevant for our times. Through Daniel’s story we see how God had the power and wisdom to help him, and how that can help us today.
These videos were originally produced for weekly assemblies at Wilson’s Hospital School, a new one is out each Friday.
Shaken is a resource for young people, produced by the Big House Ireland. It is a short booklet which contains 20 different ways to deal with life when it shakes us.
The book comes with a 20-sided dice to help to choose a strategy to try. All of them are rooted in both modern wellbeing techniques and the Bible.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. Psalm 62:6
Copies of Shaken can be obtained from Luke, our DYO, through email@example.com and from the Big House themselves on the following link: https://www.thebighouse.org.uk/
We are part of the CIYD (Church of Ireland Youth Department) who frequently support us with resources, teaching support, and training.
