Introducing Rev Sarah Marry

In preparation for the arrival of their new Rector, Rev Sarah Marry in August, the parishioners of Edenderry Union of Parishes thought it might be useful to get to know her a little better, so a few questions were posted to her about the things she likes most. Here are her replies:

“I found it hard to pin myself down on some of these questions… so please don’t hold me to all of them, some however are sacrosanct.. as you get to know me I’ll just let you figure out which!

Favourite colour – Blue
Favourite food – Indian and Italian food, big colourful salads, dark chocolate
Favourite time of year – Autumn
Favourite people – My family – Declan and our daughters Ella and Sophie and all the friends who keep me grounded
Unfulfilled ambition – To be a proper gardener and grow my own veg
Favourite shop – I love rooting in auctions and charity shops
Life pre-ministry – I worked in human resources, my last job was with Concern Worldwide in Dublin
Favourite film – Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistlestop Cafe, It’s a Wonderful Life, Shakespeare in Love, Cinema Paradiso
Favourite TV programme – 24 hours in A&E, One born every minute, anything to do with food or nature, Darling Buds of May
Favourite Scripture – Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength
Favourite place – I have a strong affection for Italy where I studied for a year and where Declan and I met, but my favourite place is our own home in Co. Offaly.
Favourite pastime – Drawing and painting, walking (whilst harbouring an ambition to run), painting, wallpapering, tiling etc.. learning new skills as we do up our house (slowly but surely!), reading when I’m too exhausted from all that DIY to do anything else!”
