The dioceses, and Kildare Union of Parishes in particular, has bade farewell to Dean John Marsden.
Dean Marsden conducted his last service in Kildare Cathedral, appropriately on St Brigid’s Day, 1st February.
At a reception following the Service parishioners wished him well for the future and presented a number of gifts to him.
Dean Marsden said, “My recent period of sabbatical leave not only provided a good break and time for study, it also gave me the opportunity to reflect on my future. In February 2016 I will have been Dean of Kildare Cathedral for ten years and Rector of Newbridge for eighteen years. I feel it is time to move on and I have decided to take a career break and pursue my interests in Christian social ethics. I have greatly valued the privilege of a wide-ranging ministry in Kildare, within both an urban and agricultural setting”.
