The Church of Ireland is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Dunne to the role of Safeguarding Officer for the Republic of Ireland.  Robert previously held a position as a youth and community worker and he also has over ten years’ experience with Barnardos in the field of child protection and family support.  Robert’s experience includes close liaison with Tusla and the Health Service Executive and advocating for children in a number of fora, including the Family Court, as a legal witness in relation to child protection concerns. Robert will manage both the child and adult safeguarding policies and will be responsible for policy-related queries and training.

Archbishop Richard Clarke, Chair of the Church’s Safeguarding Board, said: ‘It is a pleasure to welcome Robert Dunne to his new role. The business of safeguarding – both young people and adults at risk – must always be a priority the Church of Ireland pursues both meticulously and tirelessly. Robert’s long experience in this area will, I am sure, be of great value in ensuring that we continue to forward these crucial objectives effectively.’
