The dioceses of Meath and Kildare regrets to announce the death of Canon Albert Thomas (Kerry) Waterstone. He died peacefully on the 31st August 2020, in his 98th year. He was a member of Tullamore union of parishes. The funeral is a private family funeral.

He is survived by his wife Edie, his children Vici, John, Aidan, Mark and their families.

In a varied ministry in Ireland Canon Waterstone also served as rector of Tullamore Union of parishes. Bishop Pat Storey said, “Alongside his parish ministry one of Canon Kerry’s most notable achievements, along with his wife Edie, was to have founded the Ulster Project in 1975. It is a legacy that keeps on contributing to peace.” She also said her own son had taken part in one of its programmes. The Ulster Project is a peace making organisation working with teenagers from Northern Ireland.  It is dedicated to promoting peaceful co-existence of Roman Catholics and Protestants by building tolerance, trust and ongoing positive relationships between potential leaders from both traditions.  Over 3000 teens and leaders have taken part in its programmes.

As a diocesan family we remember Canon Waterstone’s wife Edie and his children Vici, John, Aidan, Mark and their families as they grieve his loss.
