Meet Rev James Reid – ordained as deacon on 20 September.
- Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I live within the parish of Clane union on the family farm.I am married to Mary for almost 32 years. We have two adult children, Simon who lives with us who is currently between jobs. Jessica lives with her partner in Sydney and is a cardiac technician .
I am a CPC instructor.
- What is your home parish and what involvement do you have in it (or the dioceses)?
My home parish is Clane union. In recent years I assisted Rev Ryan, up until his retirement.
I led services during the vacancy and have been assisting Rev Ruth O’Kelly since she came to the parish. I am also on the Select Vestry .
- Can you tell us a little about your journey to ordination?
For many years people pointed me in the direction of ordination. I was commissioned as Diocesan Reader in 2003. I was first selected for training in 2008 but due to family issues had to withdraw from training. I was then ordained as a deacon on 20 September 2020, in St Brigid’s Cathedral, Kildare.
- How will you be exercising your ministry in the near future and what are you most looking forward to?
I will be working within Clane union assisting Rev Ruth in whatever way I can.
