Ordination of new priests

On Wednesday 7 September Bishop Pat Storey will ordain 3  deacons to the order of priest. 

The ordination service will take place at 7.30pm in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Trim. The preacher will be Rev Trevor Holmes, full–time Healthcare Chaplainwith responsibility for Beaumont, Connolly and The Mater Hospitals.

Rev Marion Keating

Rev Marion Keating

Marion will continue to serve in the Kells Union of parishes.

She was ordained in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Trim on 9 September 2021, by Bishop Pat.

With a family background in farming Marion’s  working life, however, was in an office environment, starting with the Adelaide Hospital, and then moving to a manufacturing company near Kells.   She is now retired.

Her home parish has been St. Columba’s in Kells Union of Parishes, where she  served as a Parish Reader since 2009.   Marion has been  a member of the Select Vestry, church warden – both rector’s and people’s a number of times and has served as secretary to the Select Vestry.

Rev Philip McKinley

Philip will serve in Dunboyne and Rathmolyon Parish group, whilst being seconded part time to Kildare Cathedral Centre of Mission.

He was ordained deacon by Bishop Pat on 12 September 2021, in St Brigid’s Cathedral, Kildare. He spent the subsequent year serving in the Kildare and Newbridge Group of parishes.

Philip has previously ministered in a church in Blanchardstown, as well as having been Church of Ireland chaplain to DCU. Before this he was a project Officer for the Church of Ireland hard Gospel Project.

Philip is married to Julie, who works for the National Bible Society of Ireland. They have four children aged 15 to 2 – Cameron, Izzy, Eva and Tami. His father, Canon Horace McKinley, recently retired as rector of Whitechurch parish, in Dublin.

Pat will continue to serve in Navan Union of parishes.

She was ordained in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Trim on 9 September 2021, by Bishop Pat.

Born in Drogheda Pat  grew up in Dublin. After College in UCD to study Arts she did two years teaching, joined the Civil Service. After 19 years she left this to work with horses, working as an instructor, teacher and Dressage judge for many years.

A member of St Patrick’s Church in Slane she served as reader, member of the Select Vestry and then as church warden.  Her husband Brian is organist in Slane.
