Priesting of Rev Carol Hennessy

  • Earl Storey
  • September 6, 2020

The Rev Carol Hennessy was priested on Sunday 6th September, 2020, by Bishop Pat Storey. She was ordained as a deacon in September 2019.

Rev Hennessy is to serve in Naas Union of Parishes. Due to Covid-19 space restrictions the ordination was held in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Trim, facilitated by Dean Paul Bogle. Due to Covid-19 restrictions numbers attending the Service were restricted and it was conducted in accordance with government guidelines concerning Covid-19.

Carol lives in Athy, is married to Bill, and is a member of Portarlington parish. After being ordained as a deacon in September 2019 she began her ministry in Geashill, working with Canon Isaac Delamere.

Carol was ordained priest by Bishop Pat Storey. The preacher at the service was Canon Gillian Wharton, rector of Booterstown and Mount Merrion parishes, in the dioceses of Dublin and Glendalough. Also taking part in the service was Dean Paul Bogle and Archdeacon Leslie Stevenson, as well as Karen Seaman, the Diocesan Registrar. Music was provided by the Cathedral organist and Director of Music, Doreen Kimberley.

Bishop Pat Storey said, “We wish Carol well in her new phase of ministry, and for her work in Naas Union of parishes. She brings significant gifts and a commitment to service. We congratulate her on this special occasion for her.”

As a diocesan family we pray for her as she looks forward to beginning this new phase of her ministry in Naas Union of parishes.
