The Church of St Michael & All Angels has recently celebrated the restoration of cloisonné. The church is situated in Millicent, between Clane and Sallins . It is known for its beauty and the richness of its history.
The building contains some beautiful and quite rare artwork, including a number of mosaics, two panels of sgraffito and extensive areas of cloisonné.
Cloisonné is a French word meaning “enclosed”, and describes is a metal-working technique. It is an ancient technique for decorating metalwork objects. The resulting objects can also be called cloisonné.
