Wilson’s Hospital Appoints New Warden

Wilson’s Hospital School is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Niamh McShane as 14th Warden of the school. Niamh has a long association with education in Church of Ireland schools. She worked in Alexandra College Dublin for over ten years as a Science & Maths teacher and later as Transition Year Co-ordinator. Most recently Ms. McShane has been Deputy Principal in the country’s newest Church of Ireland Secondary School, Temple Carrig School, Greystones.

Ms McShane is graduated from the University of Limerick with a degree in Science Education and holds a Masters degree from NUI Galway. In her previous employments she has worked in both boarding and academic institutions and has considerable experience in all areas of school life. Niamh has a keen interest in collaborative learning and the enhancements that technology can bring to all students of all abilities.

Ms McShane has been recognised as an excellent educationalist within the Church of Ireland sector having served under the Patronage of Archbishop Michael Jackson of Dublin. Archbishop Jackson, who is also a member of the Patron Body of Wilson’s Hospital School links Niamh’s previous experience to her new role as School Head of one of Ireland’s leading Church of Ireland boarding schools.

Ms. McShane is married to Darragh, a past pupil of Sligo Grammar School. The couple have three children, a boy and two girls. The family will reside in the Warden’s Residence on the school campus. Niamh herself is a native of Waterford.

Wilson’s Hospital School welcomes Niamh to her new position which will commence in August 2016. This is an exciting time for Wilson’s as the new school Principal and Warden seeks to advance on the work of her predecessors. The entire school community of pupils, staff, parents and Board members wish Niamh every success in the assumption of her new role.
